Your logo is going to say it all, so it better say a lot. Your logo is what is going to define your company and website and make it unique. The first thing online users are going to notice is your logo and almost immediately they’ll decide whether they like it or not. A lot goes in to marketing a good logo. It’s not always as easy as just slapping on some color and applying an interesting font to the company name; your logo is what is going to be remembered, so it has to be memorable.
Some logos can include a phrase that defines the company, others choose to simply have the name of the company stand out. If the name of your company is long or difficult to say, shortening your logo to a catchy nickname might be a good idea and a viable option. Coca Cola is shortened to Coke, and somehow people derive Dick from Richard, but in the end everyone remembers the nickname. Sometimes a good nickname is better than a strong company name.
Another option is a memorable catch phrase that sits close to your company name and goes into creating a larger and more noticeable logo. Catch phrases are a good and quick way to define your company and tell the consumer everything they need to know in a moment’s time. And often enough not wasting the consumer’s time is going to lead to higher results. Another catch phrase option is telling the consumer how they are going to feel about the company or what the company offers; much like Mcdonald’s and BMW’s promos of “I’m Loving It” and “We Make Joy.” Catch phrases that take this turn are more suited to being an experienced and already known company, however. At this point the company has already been established and their name speaks for itself; yet it is still a viable option if you want your logo to be remembered.
Your logo is going to be the first thing noticed about your site, and hopefully the last thing they’ll remember.
