GetCustomerRated – Opinions matter, Especially Your Client’s.

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

Business grows on word of mouth advertising better than any other method. Though it might not be as flashy or spectacular as a commercial or demographic devised advertisement, its a proven and time tested way to keep your customers coming back and bringing new ones with them. Best of all it’s cheap and saves you money on advertising fees.
Websites always feature a testimonials page where their clients can express their feelings towards the service they received or the product they purchased. And even though there are innovative designs for these types of pages, sometimes people simply won’t believe what they read. It’s easy to fabricate text…it’s harder to mimic hundreds of different voices.
This is where GetCustomerRated.com comes into play.
GetCustomerRated.com is a uniquely designed and engineered service that brings your customer’s testimonial to life. Here’s how it works.

Your company or business signs up and receives an individual phone number assigned to your account. Your customers can call this line at any time and leave a personal, recorded message giving their testimonial about your service or product. Their message is saved as an MP3 file that you can edit and download to your website. GetCustomerRated.com will give you a small and compact player that will load when browsing customers click on your mp3 file to hear the recorded message.

It’s a simple and effective way to upgrade your testimonials and convert your website visitors into solid, paying clients.
Most advertising ploys aren’t easy; this one actually is.

Content Managment, Creation & Cookies.

Content Management, Creation & Cookies.

Writing content is like making cookies, though the end is always worth the effort sometimes it’s simply more work than fun, (and lets not even talk about the clean up!). And though cookies may not be essential to your diet, writing content for your website is. Without good, clean content to express the ideas of your website, include the key phrases, and keep the consumer interested well then your website isn’t really going to give you the results you want.

Writing content can be a rather difficult thing to do at times, which is why most people hire Content Managers. Content Managers will not only write the content for your website, but they will also maintain it, update it and keep your website from burning in the oven like the cookies you forgot we were making are doing right now! Most Content Managers that keep both eyes on your website will come attached to an SEO Plan, however, you can most likely still employ their content
writing and editing services separately.

Sometimes all your website needs is a good tweaking. Maybe you’ve even written the content yourself and just want someone else to make sure its right; nothing like a vote of confidence to try baking another batch of cookies, right? “At least they’re edible”…”at least its legible”: all good things to shoot for, and having a professional content manager/writer to agree with you on that is worth the indented backspace on your keyboard.

If writing content and baking cookies simply isn’t your forte well then hiring a content manager to take care of everything will make the process of getting your website up and active smoother, quicker and in some cases, yummier. Content managers can easily write you articles for your site, update your blog, and keep up your social media entries (Twitter, Facebook ect.). And last but not least they can taste test your cookies while they edit your content to be grammatically and literally correct. (Good luck convincing them to help you with cleaning up though!

CMS (Content Managment System)

Monday, July 12th, 2010

A CMS is the answer to cutting labor costs. CMS stands for Content Management Systems; which in a nutshell means you can edit your content.
Imagine having a great idea for your website at 1 AM on a Friday and not being able to do anything with it until maybe Monday morning…that’s just terrible, isn’t it? Now imagine that you can access your website at 1:07 AM and put your great idea into action! That alone makes a CMS priceless.

However, a CMS goes a step further and also offers amazingly easy methods of editing your content. And, to sweeten the deal, you will never be in any fear of breaking or ruining anything as a CMS can not be broken or ruined. And anything you’ve done to your site can always be edited back if it doesn’t pan out to be as great an idea as you thought it was. Without a CMS you would have to contact your web designer yet again and incur on ongoing bill just to edit your content.
For some people having an on-call web designer is the perfect fit; for others, a CMS’s one time payment pays for itself rather quickly.

Your Domain Name

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

Choosing and registering a domain name for you website is perhaps one of the more fun experiences of developing your own website. You want it to be both easy to remember and fantastic to remember. A catchy domain name that properly reflects either your company’s business, the essence of your fan site, or the sum of everything you want to share online isn’t always easy to come up with. So when you finally find the one that attributes your site perfectly you want to jump on it as quickly as possible.

Once you acquire your chosen domain name you’ll need to register it. Much like a home address in real life, only one website can have that name. Everyone can’t live at 1 Bloomers Rd; and likewise not everyone can have the best domain name ever created. That’s where domain name extensions come in.

Domain name extensions give you the ability to keep your perfect name; just with a small tweak at the end.

Domain names can have several extensions, such as:

Mycompanyname.com
Mycompanyname.net
Mycompanyname.biz
Mycompanyname.org

So instead of being www.Momshomecooking.com you can be www.Momshomecooking.net!

Now its true that the .com extension is perhaps the most popular of extensions and the most widely used, however, .net is a close second and a viable option if your .com choice is already taken. Also, even though .org’s are used most commonly for governmental or educational sites it can also be used for businesses or personal sites.

A good domain name will direct the online user to exactly what your website is about. Not only will it be easy for them to understand, but also for Google to understand, who will rank your website higher due simply to a good domain name.

When choosing your domain name you should do so with the ease of the online user in mind.

Website Hosting

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

For your website to be viewable by the public you’ll need to acquire a web host service.

Web hosting is crucial to the development of your website and is just as important as a good domain name. A web host, by definition, provides a space or location for your website to be displayed online.

The better the web host, the better the location. Picture it as either vacationing in Paris or vacationing in your neighbor’s backyard; either way you are on vacation but one option is clearly better than the other. In a similar manner, either way your website is online and viewable but some host services are clearly more advanced than the others.

Web Hosting services can range drastically in cost per month, though it is clear some services are simply better than others. Having a good web host is key to having a good website. Your online users can browse quicker and more efficiently if your site is armed with a good web hosting service. Poor quality web host services will provide you with poor traffic and ultimately be the ruin of your website.

When choosing a web host do so with three things in mind: quality service, affordable service and of course, location.

Don’t wait till next year’s vacation to visit Paris; and don’t wait till your next site to make the right decision on a web host.

Website Design

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Most online users aren’t going to see the layers of code that built a website; all they’re going to see is the face of the website. And whether your website’s style catches their eye is completely up to the design.

Innovative and unique designs aren’t always easy to come by, but they are out there and they can be made. Having your website look and feel the way you want it to is important in its development. Simply changing one color to a darker shade can alter the entire face of the website for either the better or the worse. When entering into a contract to create a website design you need to be sure that your designer knows exactly what you’re looking for; and in that, you need to know exactly what you’re looking for.

Using drop down menus, flash logos and other such programming can completely change the dynamic of the website’s design. It isn’t always just about what shade of green or blue you want to use.

Also remember the golden rule of less is more. The less cluttered site is easier to take in and easier to navigate, which makes your consumer more likely to take a moment and appreciate the layout of your site.

Colors that compliment each other are also in more demand than colors that compete; so be sure your color palette blends well and is easy to look at. Loud and dramatic colors, such as neon green or neon anything, don’t always have a place in a design. In a like manner, not everything has to be black and white with a colored text. Most generally though softer colors are easier to view and will make a better impression.

With custom web design you have a lot of choices to pick from, and you shouldn’t worry about taking your time to get it right the first time. Explore other sites online that are similar to the one you wish to publish, find out what your competition is doing. Sometimes it’s best to follow their format, where other times it is perfectly acceptable to be the unique website on the block.

The most important thing is that you like it; so make sure you get what you want.
